Midthunder was raised in New Shiprock Mexico. She is a member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine Tribe. She was born in Shiprock, New Mexico on the Navajo Nation. Later, she moved to Santa Fe and studied at the Academy for Technology and the Classics and her mother was the manager of an casting studio. Amber's father is Native American, and they have both joined the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe. Amber's mother is adopted and so Amber is not sure of her ancestral lineage. Prey features a large number of Native American actors, such as Dakota Beavers (who is Blackfeet as well as Comanche) as well as Jhane Meiers, who has been helping Prey since the beginning of time. Coco The animal actress who plays Sarii in the film, was chosen for her special breed, the American Dingo. It's one of the oldest dog breeds and is is also known under its own name, Carolina Dog.
